Rakumba’s Standley by Jon Goulder

July 25, 2018

Rakumba today announces the debut of its decorative outdoor lighting collection, spearheaded with “Standley” by Adelaide-based designer Jon Goulder.  The collection will be making its first appearance at Denfair Melbourne, on 14th June, 2018. Teaming up with Rakumba, renowned furniture designer Jon Goulder has stepped into the realm of outdoor lighting with the Standley family. “Referencing iconic Australian architecture and the natural beauty of Australia’s landscapes, the new collection pays tribute to crisp lines and monumental form”, said Jon. The Standley collection enables designers the creative freedom to specify stone and tile insets or powdercoat finishes to complement landscape and built architecture, making Standley as diverse as its surrounds.

Jon and Rakumba’s design team worked closely together, iterating design with precise cardboard mock-ups in what became an intense study of form and lighting effects.  Once the form and lighting effects were finalised, nearly 2 years of design prototyping and development were required to ensure delivery of a world class outdoor collection.

“Jon’s love of design and care for precise detailing married with his deep understanding of form perfectly complemented Rakumba’s design process and technical knowledge.  Standley is the result of a true collaboration”,  said Michael Murray, Rakumba’s Director.  Working with Jon has inspired and stimulated our team and has motivated us to push through many design challenges during the development process.

Standley is the first collection in Rakumba’s decorative outdoor lighting range, and has been one of the most capital intensive products we’ve delivered to date.  We’re very excited to release Standley and see the possibilities the collection brings to Landscape Architecture.
