The Macarons designed by Davide G. Aquini

June 24, 2015

“The Macarons” Postmodern Limited Edition Table Lamps were inspired by the abstract patterns of the Memphis movement and the famous French confection, the Macaron. Made by IN – Progetti in Luce and designed by Davide G. Aquini, the American tulipwood base and the eccentric lampshades bring back the 80s with their geometrical textures and bright colors with a sweet appearance.

First presented at the Fuorisalone Milan Design Week, the Macarons translate quirky arrangements to an original collection. With their distinctive patterns and shape, the Macarons are subtle representatives of a cutting-edge artistic era. The wooden base is handmade from two round pieces and assembled into one – just like the macaron.

“I decided to pay an homage to this movement because I love the colors and patterns of this style, moreover now we are in a revival of the 80s and Memphis is the incarnation of the Italian 80s mood.” – says designer Davide G. Aquini about the inspiration for creating The Macarons Postmodern Limited edition.

The Postmodern Limited edition includes four designs; the black and green Jungle Green, the soft colored Dots and Stripes, the unconventional Pink and Blue, and the contrasting Orange and Black.

The Macarons Postmodern Limited edition table lamps celebrate the Pop Art and Art Deco that inspired the popular Memphis design in Italy. Available in four eccentric patterns, these table lamps are a small and cute piece that revive the colorful and brave designs of the Italian 80s atmosphere.
