Marble and Light by Lithos Design

July 27, 2018

Light and marble are the two natural elements to which Lithos Design pays particular attention. Thanks to a skilful use of the technology employed in the processing of marble, the company combines these two elements by integrating lighting with natural stone surfaces, for an offer of wall coverings that is completely original and of maximum elegance.

On one side, with the Le Pietre Luminose collection, Lithos Design studies a property of some marbles that is often unexplored: the translucency. The eight models of this renewed collection of backlit modular coverings are characterized by different graphic patterns that create, thanks to the LED backlighting, unusual and fascinating effects. Each module is equipped with a luminaire that contains an independent LED light source, in order to ensure that normal maintenance is practical and easy and that the back-lighting is uniform, so that the aesthetic result is impeccable.

For this collection, Lithos Design creates 3D textures on the front side of the surface, giving movement to the tile even when the light is off. With the new model Sole, the company introduces for the first time a new approach to the processing of marble, which is performed on the back of the tile, thus intensifying the surprise effect of light on the smooth front surface.

On the other side, Lithos Design offers the Complementi Luce: wall lamps that protrude from the wall, illuminating the environment and creating a game of movements and three-dimensionality that lead to spectacular chiaroscuro effects. In addition to the already known Curve Luce and Coni Luce, Lithos Design has recently introduced the Quadre Luce type: wall lamps in the shape of a drawer that is pulled out of the wall, characterized by their straight lines that define a precise and clear style.

The first product that was launched is Strato Quadre Luce, which will be joined by three other models. The Complementi Luce are available for the models of the collection of wall coverings Le Pietre Incise. The great success of the luminous surfaces of Lithos Design is shown by the numerous projects where the marble walls with integrated luminous element have been used.

For the renovation of the restaurant Roberto’s in Abu Dhabi, the design studio Bishop Design by Paul Bishop wanted to create a visually sumptuous environment with a unique identity. To achieve this goal, it covered the walls with the Favo model of the Le Pietre Incise, integrating the type of wall lamps Curve Luce in the Favo Curve Luce model. The project has been awarded as ‘Best Leisure Interior Abu Dhabi 2017’ at the International Property Awards.

Lithos Design was established in 2007 thanks to the entrepreneurial flair of two brothers, Alberto and Claudio Bevilacqua, who were able to develop the company’s business in the stone floors and cladding industry, focusing on design, research and cutting-edge technological investments. Lithos Design was among the first companies to introduce the concept of industrial stone design and it is known across the world for its innovative top-quality products all entirely Made in Italy
