Penthouse designed by Ar. Haritha Bothireddy, Cubit Architects

November 29, 2013

The project involved a complete interior renovation and design of a 20 year old sea facing Penthouse with a formal living room, informal living space cum TV room, coffee area, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, private terrace garden and large balconies in an area of 2000 square feet. The idea behind the apartment was to create ‘Openness’ and ‘Reflections’ with the use of lighting and glass. The original layout had minimal scope for spatial modification except for the closed type introverted kitchen which was converted into an open kitchen facing the sea with a contemporary style breakfast counter.
The kitchen was designed with a combination of white and red lacquered glass finish for its shutters. The flooring was completely reworked with new engineered white marble to create larger looking spaces.
The existing doors and wardrobe shutters were redesigned into a modern and minimalistic concept with the use of existing & new materials. An existing store room was linked to the master bedroom and converted into a large walk in closet with ample space for hanging clothes.
The bathrooms were redesigned with designer wall tiles, matt finish floor tiles and rough cut granite for counter tops to create a rustic Indian yet contemporary style interiors.
